According to the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer is "the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States, other than skin cancer." 1 in 8 women may face the struggle against this insidious disease in their lifetime; of them, 1 in 37 will likely be fatal. Women are not the only victims of this disease. Breast cancer also affects men.
But, with the help of the American Cancer Society and researchers around the world, these men and women are turning the tables, transforming themselves from victims to survivors! Currently, there are more than 3.1 million survivors in the United States alone; imagine this number translated worldwide. So, how did this happen?
You are helping to create Survivors instead of Victims. Your time and donations to such programs as Relay for Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer funds on going research, treatment, and support for both the patients and their loved ones.
Cancer, in its many forms, has directly impacted the lives of many staff members here at Star*Crossed Weddings™. Our staff actively participates in the Relay for Life campaign, sponsoring the Inspired Dreamwalkers team, and STRIDES. It is with your help and support that we have been able to do so, and we can't begin to express our appreciation and admiration for your generosity.
October 30th - November 1st, we joined partners Paramour Studios™ and Georgia Peach Salon & Spa in a Halloween/Samhain celebration event. A series of activities were held: two parties, trick or treating, spooky house tours, raffles, costume contests, and more. Staff and guests had a great time, but most importantly, over 6,500 linden was raised for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer!
Two donation kiosks are present on the Star*Crossed sim. One is located at the landing point in front of our main office; the other may be found at Paramour Studios. We'd love to break 10k!
Again, we want to thank you all for your dedication to improving the lives of, not just the patients of breast cancer, but also the families, friends, and medical professionals who stand beside them throughout their fight.
